Enko Case Study
Project location: Warehouse Relocation from Mt Roskill, Auckland to Kamo, Whangarei
Client name: Enko Group
Description: Enko is an NZ owned and operated business which distributes kitchen hardware fittings that enable designers, manufacturers, and installers to design high end kitchens.
Scope: Enko Group were relocating their warehouse racking from Auckland to Whangarei. They required existing racking to be dismantled, freighted, and re-installed with minimal disruption to their operations.
Some of the key pain points that Enko Group were experiencing were:
- Poorly laid out warehouse which was easily blocked up with incoming shipments or the packaging of larger orders
- Unable to navigate with a forklift around the majority of racking
- It was remote from where Enko employees lived
Shelving Depot’s team were able to design the new warehouse layout in Whangarei which would resolve the key pain points Enko Group had been experiencing. The new layout was planned to utilize Enko’s existing racking and minimize the need to purchase any additional components. Cameron commented that “Boaz’s assessment and memory of our current racking components/configurations and what that would allow us to create in the new building was amazing.”
To minimize disruption to Enko Group’s operations, the project was completed in multiple stages. Shelving Depot managed the freight, ensuring that deliveries arrived onsite at the same time as installers to keep wasted time to a minimum and complete the project in a timely manner.
Throughout the project Enko Group were regularly updated on progress and the project was completed a few days ahead of schedule. Cameron commented that that there was “Brilliant communication with both Daniel planning the job and Boaz delivering the project.”
“We had spoken to two other racking firms in Auckland about our relocation project (including the one that actually installed the current racking in the Mt Roskill location) and I felt none really “wanted to help us” – they offered pennies for our current racking, wanted to sell, sell, sell and simply didn’t want to understand what the best plan for us would be. Daniel and the Shelving Depot team visited our site within days and built and delivered a detailed, practical racking relocation plan – all within an upfront budgeted figure. We have added quite a few extra smaller sections of racking to utilise extra space since the initial install and they have again been great to deal with – including buying back at reasonable figure any odds and ends of racking that we didn’t require. Overall Shelving Depot has been awesome to work with – if you have a racking challenge or are wanting help with relocating your current setup, you need to talk to them!”
